What is a Vision Board?
A Vision Board is a combination of images that represent life goals, pinned into a board (physical or digital) which is then placed where it can be visualised on a daily basis. The objective is to stay focused and be constantly reminded of the life goals. But how does one even know what goals? After all it takes courage, vulnerability, to look at ones life and really reflect upon what we would like to achieve. But, as Brene Brown said “Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation creativity, and change” and, it is also the birthplace of connection.
Connect to yourself with a vision board
For that, the process of creating a vision board will help you feel connected to yourself and (re)discover things about you that will lead to a much-fulfilled life. Additionally creating a Vision Board is fun and creative and results in a beautiful, unique, and inspiring piece of decoration but it’s also much more than that. It’s a powerful tool that facilitates goal achievement.
Do Vision Boards actually work?
The answer is definitely yes! As a matter of fact Vision Boards are widely used for many years as a powerful tool to turn dreams into goals. It starts by helping you reflect on what are the things you really want in life and give it (literally) a clear picture. Having your goals on display to look at every day plays with your subconscious and redirects your focus. According to an article published on Psychology Today by Angie LeVan, studies made on the human brain have shown that thoughts can produce the same mental instructions as actions.
Build a routine around your Vision board
Above all visualising your goals on a daily basis will have you thinking of them. As result it will train the brain for performance. This kind of practice has been shown to increase motivation, confidence and self-efficacy. Think of life as if you are in a sailing boat. Eventually if you don’t have clarity on the destination you will be at the mercy of the wind. A vision board is a map that points you in the right direction that will have you feel content and fulfilled.
HOW DO I START A VISION BOARD?
We don’t have a Vision Board template, but we provide you with the needed structure by offering a step-by-step guide book. To start, divide your life into 4 big areas: Career, Self, Family & Friends and Romantic Relationships. The next step is to define your objectives and prioritise them.
Take your time and reflect
Initially you should take some time to really think about what you desire and what makes your life meaningful. This procedure is crucial for your Vision Board. Thus you should be very clear about it. In reality we often get overwhelmed and unsure of what is that we really want and / or need.
If you struggle there is help
A good way to get more clarity for your life could be the use of a coach. Otherwise you may also use our Step-by-Step Vision Board Guide book which provides challenging questions and self-development content. In summary the content of the guide will help you reflect on the right things to get a fulfilling life.
How should youR Future life look like?
Afterwards you have a clear idea about your objectives you can start searching for images and / or words which somehow represent them. For example, your goal is to buy a house, find a picture of a house that you could imagine yourself buying, and pin it to your board. Overall this process is a lot of fun, because you can go through magazines, Pinterest or just google.
Bring the pieces together
When you finally found the right and inspiring content, you are ready to pin it to your board. If you don’t have one take a look at our Vision Board Kit. Additionally to the book it has all you need to complete a vision board. In case you already have one, put all the content on your board and manifest the life you desire!
Let the Vision Board become reality!
The Power of believing
The main part of turning goals into reality is to believe them. Having the vision board in a location where it’s visible on a daily basis will help you regain focus. On top of that it will train your brain into working towards the goals. However, it is still normal to have ups and downs. Just like when you’re in a boat, for as much as you can master the sailing techniques you won’t have control of the seas.
KEEP Faith in yourself
There will be days when you’ll feel less hopeful. You will question everything, feel less inspired, and wonder if you should let the wind and the currents decide your destiny. In those days it’s important to be kind to ourselves. Accept that we can’t always control everything. It’s ok to lean back and regain some energy. And until you’re ready, let the power of manifestation and visualisation help you get back on track.
Your Mantra - the cherry on top!
We find that having a powerful Mantra, a phrase you repeat to yourself every day, will help get the energy and especially help believe again that it is possible to turn goals into reality. Therefore we invite you to create a Mantra that will help you move forward even in the days that all seems impossible. Futhermore that will have you inspired in the days you need it the most. Correspondingly put it on your Vision Board and read it every day and/or every time you need it. Here are some examples of good mantras to put you in the right mindset:
